FORT STOCKTON, TEXAS — A festive evening at the Fort Stockton Carnival turned into a crime scene late Wednesday night after gunshots rang out around 9:00 PM, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services.
According to a press release issued by the Fort Stockton Police Department, officers were conducting a routine walk-through at the carnival grounds located on South Highway 285 when they heard what appeared to be gunfire. Officers immediately called for backup, requesting support from the Fort Stockton Criminal Investigations Division, the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, and Pecos County Emergency Medical Services.
One male victim was located and found to be in need of medical assistance. Emergency responders from Pecos County EMS treated the individual on the scene before transporting him to Pecos County Memorial Hospital. Authorities confirmed that the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
